It’s a sister act! Mary Sherlock will be joining us on the 11th of August, with her sister Ita.
Here’s what Mary had to say: “While I am not qualified in archaelogy (I am a nurse) I do have a keen interest in archaelogy on an amateur or hobby basis. I am a member of Meath Archaelogical and Historical Society (see details below) and go to regular events organised by them and also an Annual Excursion. I am very interested in the Flag Fen Project and look forward to the dig on 11th August.
The Meath Archaeological and Historical Society (MAHS) was first formed in 1937. The object of the society, then as now, was to preserve, examine, publish and illustrate the antiquities, records and traditions connected with the area. Their field of work was the ancient kingdom of Meath, which roughly corresponds now to the area covered by the modern Roman Catholic Diocese of Meath. The MAHS event list, Ríocht na Midhe contents and much more can be viewed on the society’s website https://mahs.ie
