“I’m a writer, currently penning a series of archaeological thrillers. My almost-completed novel ‘The Sphinx Scrolls’ features archaeological digs at Mayan sites in Guatemala and Belize, and I took part in an excavation of a small temple in the Belizean jungle as part of the research for that book.
But I’m keen to gain more practical experience of archaeology in order to ensure my characters and scenes in subsequent books are convincing, and the Flag Fen Lives campaign seemed like the ideal opportunity to get my hands dirty and connect with what I’m writing about.”
“My wife, Katia, is a Brazilian-born film producer. While based in New York for 18 years she worked on a number of films including ‘The Cider House Rules’, ‘Shadow Magic’ and the ‘Pokemon’ animated movies. She then retired early and moved to England where she worked on a historical documentary with me, ‘The Mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau’. Recently she rescued a car-load of stray dogs from Greece, sorted out pet passports for them and found them homes in the UK. Katia has long been fascinated with history and archaeology, and is very excited at the chance to attend a genuine dig.”
Great stuff Stuart – welcome to the crew! I can see a story telling evening shaping up when you’re with us – ghost stories in the roundhouse anyone?
All the best, and looking forward to it!
