Venturer profile: Hugh Fiske

“I have very recently taken voluntary redundancy after 17 years in the public sector and at 53 was looking for something different to occupy myself with. I have enjoyed Time Team for many years and was at one time a keen metal-detectorist, so when I saw the DigVentures tweets and digested the contents of the Flag Fen project website, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to get my hands dirty, support a good cause and, just maybe, be the start of a new life direction. I am married with one grown up daughter who has just left home, my wife Stephanie would dearly have liked to come along to Flag Fen as well but unfortunately she will be on Olympic marshalling duties over that period!

My other interests are aviation, military/general history and personal computing, I also buy & sell secondhand books online, specialising in those subjects.”

Welcome Hugh – I’m sure we’ll be more fun than the Olympics!
