In the immortal words of the Pointer Sisters, we’re so excited and we just can’t hide it!
Why, you ask, why is everyone in such a state at DV towers?
Well, it’s because something amazing happened this past weekend – we went to visit our new site for the summer 2013 excavation, and meet the team there, and talk about the project, and start really making plans. The Wattle & Daub will be open for business! In spite of the snow, we were all warm and fuzzy inside. And SiteDog concurs – it’s a doozy, and all of you lot are gonna love it.
There’s lots of work to be done right now in writing the Project Design and making sure that we make the best possible plan for the archaeology and the field school. We’ve also still got to lock down the dates, but for those of you out there who are super-keen, it’s looking like we’ll be digging in the first three weeks of July. TBC!
We will announce the location, the specifics, and the funding campaign at the end of February. Till then, we thought it might be fun to keep you all guessing with a little contest. We’ve got loads of lovely pictures from our visit, so we’ll release them one at a time over the next six weeks. The first person to correctly guess the site will win a free Dig for a Day.
