There are lost, deserted and shrunken medieval villages scattered all over Britain, and each one has its own unique story to tell. Why did these villages get lost? How can you find one? And could you be the next person to discover one?

In this live online talk, archaeologists from DigVentures will share what we know about the lost medieval villages of Britain, and how you can have a go at finding one for yourself…

There are an estimated 3000+ deserted medieval villages across Britain. These settlements, once home to thriving medieval communities, are now puzzles waiting to be explored by archaeologists.

We can trace the earthworks of these sites, study the cropmarks, and recover artefacts buried below the ground. But what can this tell us about the people who used to live here, and why they left?
