Join us for a live panel discussion on the future of archaeological leadership
Good leadership is crucial to the success of any team, organisation, or sector – including archaeology.
We stand at an inflection point in UK archaeological practice. With both internal and external forces driving change, it’s a necessary time to turn an action-oriented eye towards how we lead, practice, and evolve as a sector.
What is good leadership? Why does it matter? How do we set the example? What role does a culture of good leadership have to play? And how can you become a good leader?
Our panel will discuss areas including values, progression, standards, limitations, role models, skills and potential ingredients of a more dynamic, equitable, and future-proofed approach to archaeological leadership.
Finally, we’ll wrap up with thoughts around the first next step to translate aspirations into genuine shifts in how we work, plus tips on being a good leader in your archaeological career – useful for all archaeologists at any stage of your career, from students to CEOs.
Our panellists:
- Lisa Westcott Wilkins FSA FRSA MCIfA, Clore Leadership Fellow, Ashoka Fellow, and DigVentures Co-CEO.
- Dr Pen Foreman PCIfA, Senior Inclusive Heritage Adviser at Historic England, Chair at Chartered Institute for Archaeologists
- Lizzie Glithero-West FSA, CEO of The Heritage Alliance
