Platform
A platform refers to a level area of ground that may be raised, compacted and made of earth, stone, timber, or man-made materials like brick.

These are built to support a structure or activity. It can often be the only evidence that remains for the feature that used to occupy it. The plan and construction materials can help suggest the original purpose. A square or rectilinear platform measuring more than a few metres suggests a building platform. Smaller round or irregular platforms may suggest activities like burning charcoal or limestone.
This feature is often found in association with other monument types If a platform is found in isolation, or its function cannot be inferred, simply ‘platform’ should be used with annotations.
