Mounds are elevated earthworks that have been deliberately constructed and usually, but not always, take on a circular or sub-circular-shape.

There are a great variety of mounds with archaeological significance, and it can be hard to differentiate between man-made and natural forms. If a specific type of mound cannot be determined, the Mound type should be used with annotations.
What to look for:
