Bomb Crater
A bomb or explosion crater is a depression that is the result of the detonation of bombs, shells, mines or other military explosives.

Bomb craters may easily be mistaken for other features like extractive pits. Bomb craters are generally smaller in size and will not be associated with signs of purposeful construction like an encircling ditch or an access path.
What to look for:
- Generally small size (5 - 25 m dia)
- Usually symmetrical or near circular in outline
- Small earthen bank or rim of spoil around edges
- Occasionally an associated linear-like pattern, indicating the bomb ‘stick’
