Building Platform
A building platform is a level area of ground that has been artificially compacted, levelled or raised for the construction of a building.

The platform can be compacted earth or may be made of clay, stone, timber, concrete or other materials. There can be wall foundations remaining or hollows present where walls may have stood.
In the case of domestic buildings there may be visible remnant garden features like fruit trees, hedges or perennial plants.
What to look for:
- A rectangular shape several metres in size
- Evidence of cultivated gardens
- Possibly with an associated trackway
- Association with settlement enclosure
