Flag Fen Lives – Day 3

It’s not just the trenches that we’re busy away with over the next three weeks.

We’re also taking an auger survey to find the edge of the Bronze Age platform  (basically driving a long hollow tube down into the ground to remove a long continuous tube of sediment).

Will Lord, flint knapper, drops in (via the Palaeolithic!), check out our Palaeoenvironmental specialist (Ben Gearey) and wood technology specialist (Mike Bamforth) explain the who, what why’s and where’s of this important technique.
