We’re well into December and for most people, that only means one thing: Christmas. But we’re not most people, we’re archaeologists, and for archaeologists the one thing December means is… CONFERENCE.
Yes, very soon, bold young archaeologists will be convening along with established heavyweights at TAG2015 to try out their most exciting new theories, debate the most pressing issues in archaeology and, of course, have a bit of a pissup.
That’s all well and good, but experienced conference-goers like us know that for anyone who likes to hear the latest and greatest ideas, conferences present a few problems. The first is the inevitable hangover, the second is what to do when the two talks you most wanted go head to head in the timetable, and the third is what if you can’t make it at all?
Luckily, Doug RocksMcQueen is leading a noble charge: to film the whole thing and make it available online to ANYONE with an interest in archaeology – not just academics and professionals. But he needs a few bucks to cover the costs for the huge team of volunteers it’s going to take to do this. If you want to hear what some of the coolest thinkers in archaeology are saying, and can chip in the cost of a round, then please click here.
In the meantime, we’ve chucked together a game of archaeology conference buzzword bingo. If you’re lucky enough to attend, we’ll be damned if you don’t get a full card. Oh, and feel free to leave your favourite archaeology buzzwords in the comments!
