‘How do you know where to dig’ is a question we often get asked by Flag Fen’s visitors… 

…and here some of our team (Assistant Director’s Mike Bamforth and Dave Britchfield, as well as Site Surveyor Kristina Krawiec) explain as the turf comes off the remaining trenches. Up until today we’ve been working on the dry land side of Flag fen – but today we’re moving into the wet site with test pits above the Bronze Age post alignment designed to give us a good look at the preservation conditions.

Our Venturers get busy in Trench 1 – and of course, Fergus our Dig Dog (@SiteDog) sniffs out his first scent of TV fame. It’s another scorcher!
