Venturer profile: Pippa Gardener

Digital Venturer Pippa Gardener tells us why Flag Fen means so much to her…

“My name is Pippa Gardner and I grew up in Peterborough. I was home educated and spent my teenage years as a volunteer at Flag Fen from about 2005 to 2008. I also helped to set up a project with Girlguiding Cambs West where a group of young women participated in some experimental archaeology and conservation work.

It was this site that cemented my interest in archaeology and I left Peterborough to study for a BA in Archaeology and Geography at the University of Sheffield. I am now at the University of East Anglia studying for a master’s in Museum Studies and I’m very interested in crowd-funding projects as models to fund all sorts of things (but obviously museums, heritage and archaeology especially)!

I would love to be digging the site which ignited my passion for the subject, however my studies aren’t quite over and I will have to make do with eagerly following updates online instead.”

Thanks so much for the support Pippa – maybe drop in if you’re passing – that local knowledge would certainly come in handy!
